Held in Dromana for the first time (after three years in the Dandenongs and two in Warburton) the event started poorly, with a torrential downpour at the start. DD16 was the fifth edition of the Melbourne Dirty Dozen, a recreational cycling event in which riders pit themselves against a baker's dozen of short but steep climbs. After many months of planning, the 2015 Melbourne Dirty Dozen finally arrived on Sunday. In its first visit to Warburton, the event saw 250 cyclist tackle 13 of the steepest climbs in the area. If there's one thing I've learnt this summer it's that there are lots of cyclists in Melbourne that enjoy riding uphill. Whether it's been the 7 Peaks Domestique Series or last weekend's Dirty Dozen, the size of the crowds has blown me away.
