Mountain biking at Mt. Buller and Mt. Stirling

The day after our Domestique 7 Peaks Ride at Mt. Buller, I headed out onto the famous MTB trails in the surrounding hills. My destination was the nearby peak of Mt. Stirling and while the mountain was only 10km away in a straight line, it was no mean feat to get there. Read more “Mountain biking at Mt. Buller and Mt. Stirling”

Domestique 7 Peaks Rides 2015/16: Mt. Buller

For the final Domestique 7 Peaks Ride of the summer, the crew headed out to the glorious Mt. Buller climb roughly three hours north-east of Melbourne. Several hundred riders took on the 16km ascent to the alpine resort on what was a beautifully warm autumn day. Read more “Domestique 7 Peaks Rides 2015/16: Mt. Buller”

Domestique 7 Peaks Series 2014/15: Mt. Buller

After a wet and miserable day at Lake Mountain a fortnight earlier, the Domestique 7 Peaks Series continued at Mt. Buller on Saturday in much better weather. Here's my story from the day. Read more “Domestique 7 Peaks Series 2014/15: Mt. Buller”

The 2014 Mt. Buller Road Race (by Verita Stewart)

Only a year ago Verita Stewart was lining up to race women's C grade at the Mt. Buller Road Race. On Sunday she raced A grade with ambitions of a top-10 finish, despite a less than ideal lead-up. In this guest post Verita talks us through her weekend, which also included the Mansfield Criterium. Read more “The 2014 Mt. Buller Road Race (by Verita Stewart)”

Domestique 7 Peaks Series 2013/14: Mt Buller

Putting on the Domestique 7 Peaks Series has been extremely satisfying and rewarding for Andy and I and the final ride, at Mt. Buller last weekend, was no exception. Here's my report from that ride, including some terrific photos from Kirsten Simpson. Read more “Domestique 7 Peaks Series 2013/14: Mt Buller”

A ride with Simon Gerrans and 'racing' up Mt. Buller

Last weekend I got the chance to ride with one of only two Australians to have won a stage at all three Grand Tours: Simon Gerrans. With five other journalists and bloggers I joined Gerro for a ride up Mt. Buller as part of a terrific weekend on the mountain. Read more “A ride with Simon Gerrans and 'racing' up Mt. Buller”

7 Peaks Domestique Series rides #10&11: Mt. Buller

Mt. Buller: surely one of the most picturesque of the Victorian Alps (Image: Kirsten Simpson)
One of the most satisfying things about the 7 Peaks Domestique Series has been the way we've been able to bring cyclists from all different backgrounds together, to ride and to socialise. And nowhere has this social aspect been stronger than on our two trips to Mt. Buller -- one in mid December and one just last weekend. Read more “7 Peaks Domestique Series rides #10&11: Mt. Buller”

7 Peaks Domestique Series rides #3&4: Mt. Buller

Just slightly wet.
The weather at the first two 7 Peaks Domestique Series rides was as close to perfect as you're likely to get: clear blue skies, sunshine, perfect temperatures and not so much as a speck of rain. Unfortunately we weren't quite so lucky when we headed up to Mt. Buller for rides #3 and #4 in the series. Read more “7 Peaks Domestique Series rides #3&4: Mt. Buller”
